BRFC Rascals Registration Policy 2012/2013 and Onwards

Update to Rascal Registration Policy to account for Siblings of existing Mini Rugby Members

Rascal places will be allocated on the following basis:

All those returning Rascals will be given first opportunity to confirm a place for the next season. Dates for this period will be confirmed and emailed by the Rascals Head Coach. Anyone not registering in this period will allow their place to lapse. Fees and Forms must be received prior to the expiry of this period.

Pending enough spaces, names of siblings of an existing Rascal or Mini Rugby member will then be taken. Anyone who wishes to take up this opportunity must notify by email the Rascals Head Coach during the period above.

For the period of 2012 only all those who registered an interest with the Rascals Head Coach prior to the end of first week of April 2012 will then be contacted directly by email. Again return dates will be notified and anyone not registering during this period will forfeit their place.

On a date to be confirmed by the Rascals Head Coach via the Rascals page of the Ballymena RFC web site, a Registration night will be announced. Any vacant places will then be filled on this date, on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED basis (this opportunity will only open on completion of the set up the registration desk and Rascal Head Coach notification). All registration forms must be 100% complete and fees paid on the night. Registration forms will be available to download from the web site and only season appropriate forms will be accepted.

Anyone not gaining a place on the Registration night will be asked to keep hold of their documents. Any spaces that the Rascals Head Coach deems available will then be notified on the BRFC web site and again will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

Once Rascals is deemed full for the season by the Rascals Head Coach, no further names will be taken or held. Any forms, emails, letters etc received after this time will be returned.

Where do we meet
Generally on the 1st XV pitch, but on wet days we have to move elsewhere to avoid the pitch being cut up!

Fees for 2012/13 season
£35 per child.

What happens?
The main aim is to have fun, but to learn a little bit about the game of Rugby while doing so.

Training Times
We meet between 9:30 and 10:30am on a Saturday morning. Registration details will be issued soon.

Safety
Safety is a primary concern at Rascals' Rugby. Therefore there will be:

- No Tackling (Introduce 2-handed touch only);
- No Scrummage;
- No Line Out;
- No Rucking or Mauling;
- No differentiation between forwards and backs.

It is also advisable that all children wear a mouth guard for training.The IRFU have called for a ban on boots with metal blades and Parents are asked to ensure that children have the proper boots.
